Are you thinking about buying a home for the first time? If so, there are three things you need to know about:

1. Pre-approval: This is the most important part of the buying process. It's going to tell you what you're qualified for based on your credit score, taxes, and debts. A pre-approval will let you know exactly what you can afford.

2. Your comfort zone: You might qualify for more than you're actually comfortable spending. Make sure you set your price goal somewhere realistic, so you never feel uncomfortable with your payments. Just because you are qualified for a certain amount doesn't mean you can live comfortably with it.

3. Your criteria: What exactly do you want out of a property? You need to define your needs and wants. Your needs should be the foundation of your search. Don't overlook the third bedroom you need or the pool you want! Make sure you have the needs in place, with the wants secondary.
